Both methods allow the flavours to meld beautifully, creating a comforting and delicious meal with minimal effort. Slow Cooker or AGA Butter Chicken

Serves 4

3 Chicken Fillets
4 Cloves of Garlic Crushed
120 ml Double Cream
500g of Passatta
1 Onion Chopped
A Little Butter To Fry The Onion (Add A Tiny Bit Of Veg Oil To Stop The Butter Burning)
1 tbsp Honey
Salt
1 tsp Ground Cumin
1 tsp Turmeric
1 tsp Chilli Powder (use less if you want a milder dish or your Chilli Powder is particularly hot)
2 tsp Garam Masala
50 g Butter - Cubed

This is the easiest recipe ever!

Start by melting a small amount of butter with a little splash of vegetable oil to a casserole dish or your slow cooker (f you have one of the fancy ones, if your doesn't have a frying function then use a frying pan and transfer to the slow cooker).  Fry the onion gently until soft but not browned - AGA owners can put this into the simmering oven for approximately 10 mins until the onion is soft but not browned.

Then add your Garlic, Cumin, Turmeric, Chilli Power and Garam Masala to the onions and cook gently for approx 1 min, stirring so the spices don't catch.

Then add the Passatta, Honey and Salt and give everything a good stir.

Nestle the Whole Chicken Breasts into the mixture and dot over the Cubed Butter.

If using an AGA, pop a lid on the casserole and place in the simmering oven for at least 3 hours.  If using a slow cooker then refer to the manufacturer's instructions for guidance as to how long to cook.

Once the main dish is cooked, shred the Chicken and stir in the Cream.

Serve With:

  • basmati rice
  • naan bread
  • mango chutney

If you cook curries regularly on an AGA, many AGA owners also use chef’s pads or lid covers to protect the hotplate lids from splashes while cooking.
